Frequently Asked Questions.

What will these programs offer that therapy doesn’t?

The goal of these programs is to help people explore unconscious barriers that are holding them back from living their truest potential. One of the main obstacles to self-compassion is that, by itself, the idea is too vague. It is not enough just to be “nicer” to yourself—you must first identify why you feel this way in the first place. Together, we will identify which parts of you need nurturing and how you’d like to show up in the world.

Though Elizabeth is a trained therapist— she is choosing to currently lead as a coach. Coaching allows us the opportunity to color outside of limiting lines and combine historically holistic practices with the training she has received by working in mental health for over a decade. Additionally, this allows the team to take on overseas collaborations. Together, we will find and explore individualized paths to deeper understanding and find ultimate stability within.

Are there any requirements or pre-work to be done?

We will work on understanding the specifics of each modality together. However, if you’re a didactic learner, there is a helpful book called Introduction to Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz that can provide some familiarity with the main model of IFS. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk is another essential read for anyone interested in comprehending the treatment of traumatic stress. We will also ask that all clients fill out the pre-work forms which will be emailed individually.

What happens during our first free consultation?

During our first conversation, we would like you to ask any questions you may have and suggest that you have some written beforehand. This is the time you may choose to share what brought you to this space and a little bit about what you hope to focus on and find through our experience together. This is a no-commitment call and you will not be asked to continue with our time together until you are sure this is the route you want to take. Our expectation is that you take this work as seriously as you would take your day job; we require committment that all of our time and energy is an investment well spent.
